The Golden Hanger Gala

Last night I had a chance to shoot the Golden Hanger Gala. It was a great fashion event put on by Fashion Careers College that benefited the Make a Wish Foundation.

It was a great event with some amazing designers and local celebrities.  Unfortunately my flash died. Yep, died halfway through the night. Crap...

Another photo shoot another failure?

Leading in from my post yesterday about how grateful I am to have so much support. Support isn't a substitute for talent... And, I think talent is eluding me lately. I tried to establish the intent of the shoot; a bebe style outfit for a fashion magazine add. 

One thing that I am definitely going to do before any shoot is create a shoot list and use it. About 200 frames into the shoot I just lost focus. What do I shoot next? Not good...

I don't know that I hate the photos but I don't love them. I'll post a link to some of the images over the next few days.

You ever take someone for granted?

I do...

I was going through some photos from a shoot today and I came to the sudden realization. My brother has been driving over 45 miles each way to help me with these shoots. His help ranges from picking stuff up or slapping me in the face and telling me I am going completely in the wrong direction with the shoot.

And to boot, my wife puts up with me spending so much time working on these projects.

I am really lucky to have people in my life that support me.

Pinup Girl

Another project that I am working on. This is the 1st time I've shot pinup, and I am pleasantly surprised with the images. 

I am working with her to create a calendar for her husband who is stationed in Iraq. So far we've shot 6 of the 12 months. I think he'll be really happy; or something else ;-), when he sees the finish product.

More to come I've got lots of images to work through.

Work in progress

I've been struggling with something lately. I've heard that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I also believe you keep trying until you get is right... Are these ideas the same? Is the persistence of perfection insane? I'll need to pounder this some more.

I was working on a fashion shoot for a class and it turned into an epic failure, but I will try again and again till I get it right. I guess I am just insane...

The Loft 10 Year Anniversary

Last night I was shooting an event at the Loft Salon in Escondido. It was a fantastic event with a great turnout. Its no wonder The Loft Salon has been around 10 years. 

The was some studio photography that was done for the event by another very talented photographer in Escondido by the name of Alex (I'll have to look up her last name again). Her photography was well done! It's inspiring me to get into the studio. There will be more to come in regards to that... Here is a link to the images.
